THE attractions of village living are clear to all and a North East developer that has just released the second phase of a four-bedroom homes development in a semi-rural village is expecting interest to be high.
Dunelm Homes has released the homes at Victoria Gardens, in the heart of the quiet village of High Spen, near Rowlands Gill, Tyne and Wear, for sale.

Phase two features two new house types, the Worcester and the Shrewsbury, as well as the four-bedroomed Chichester. The 1,413sq ft Worcester is priced from £274,995 and the 1,126sq ft Shrewsbury from £239,995.

Dunelm Homes sales director Colin Willetts said: “Victoria Gardens is a development rooted in the creation of spacious, quality homes in a convenient and accessible location. Each property in phase two represents the best in traditional quality finishings balanced with practical design, making them much-sought-after family properties that we're extremely proud of."

The stunning countryside and proximity to tranquil Chopwell Woods also make it well-situated for leisurely walks on woodland trails.
Victoria Gardens is also within 20 minutes' drive of Garesfield Golf Club, Whickham Golf Club and the Close House Golf Club.
Colin continued: "Victoria Gardens has been a popular development since first opening its doors and only five properties in the new phase remain for sale. David Cameron is going to bring back the Right to Buy scheme and use the money to build more new homes
We recently spotted this article about David Cameron calling for a 'housing revolution' in the UK, he is going to bring back the Right to Buy scheme and use the money to build more new homes.
We completely agree with him, as a nation we are constantly being told that it is harder and harder to get onto the property ladder and there isn't enough affordable housing, hopefully with Cameron's plan people will be able to buy their own Council houses and help fund the building of new homes to allow other people to get a foot onto the property ladder.
Read the full article below, taken from house-builder.co.uk:
Prime minister David Cameron has called for a Tory-led "housing revolution" to allow Britons to own a home of their own, despite the debt crisis.
In his speech to the Conservative party conference today, he confirmed that the government would bring back the Right to Buy and use the money raised to build more new homes.
And the prime minister had harsh words for those opposing planning reforms, saying that businesses could not expand as they were "stuck in the mud of our planning system".
He said: "To those who just oppose everything we're doing, my message is this: take your arguments down to the job centre. We've got to get Britain back to work."
Dunelm have been helping young people to buy their own homes for 15 years

We came across an interesting article here at Dunelm HQ this morning which stated that ‘9 out of 10 young people want to own a home’, of course that came as no surprise to us, as for the last 15 years we have been helping young people in the region do just that.
According to Housebuilder.co.uk ‘74% of people think its harder to buy a home now than five years ago, while 57% of 25-34 year olds who plan to buy a property are frustrated by the market.’ At Dunelm we understand that taking the first step on the property ladder is never easy, however along with the government we are working to help hundreds of North East residents to buy their first home. We are proud to be a member of the governments FirstBuy scheme, which aims to assist people who may not normally be able to afford to purchase their first home. FirstBuy is a shared equity scheme that enables first time buyers to purchase a new property at just 80% of the asking price. The remaining 20% of the property price is then funded in the way of a loan, provided to the purchaser by the government and Dunelm Homes.
David Bryant, chair of the New Homes Marketing Board said ‘These figures show that although young people want to own their own homes, it is becoming much more difficult. Supply is vital to increasing both affordability and stability in the market. In the short term we must find a way of addressing the lack of mortgage finance. Over the long term we need a planning system that delivers enough land for the homes our country needs.’
This year we have helped 8 young couples buy their first home through the FirstBuy scheme. We currently have seven FirstBuy developments situated across the North East, in County Durham, North Tyneside, Newcastle Upon Tyne and Stockton-on-Tees. All of our developments include a wide range of house styles, so, whether you’re looking for detached, semi-detached or an apartment, we can help you make your dream of owning a home a reality.
To find out more about our developments or simply have a chat about the FirstBuy scheme you can contact our friendly team on 01325 379 351.
Last month saw Dunelm Homes open the doors of the site for a school visit, this wasn’t just any school visit, this was a visit that included 59 reception students from the nearby primary school,
After a short stroll to Bailey Grange, all 59 youngsters were kitted out with Hard Hats and High Visibility Vests and taken on a VIP tour of the second phase development, which has an exclusive development of two, three, and four bedroom contemporary family homes, still under construction and almost entirely sold.
Miss Hindhaugh, reception teacher at
'The excursion gave the children some excellent ‘Hands On’ learning experiences. The visit gave the children an opportunity to see contemporary houses being built firsthand as well as being a fantastic finale of our materials in the home topic.'
The youngsters watched the house builders and machinery at work, from laying foundations for the 19 new family homes to adding their roofs. The visit followed several weeks of studying houses in school, where the reception students painted pictures of their own homes. Looked through materials and shapes involved in the home and even transformed their role play area into a builder’s yard.
Our sales executive Mo Williams was on hand to assist the school expedition to the popular development, which, since building began, quickly established a growing community of residents.
Mo commented saying:
'I am delighted that Dunelm Homes has been able to facilitate a school activity which has enabled a whole year group to experience the house building industry. The students were able to identify the several different house styles being built in this penultimate building phase and were even able to see popular Wells style of home, which is a three story four bedroom property, quite unusual for the Killingworth area. It was an absolute pleasure to show the students around the development and fantastic to see their enthusiasm as they explored the site. The visit was such a success we
hope to work with them again in the near future'.
With just one house available on this phase, Bailey Grange, in Killingworth, is proving to be am extremely popular development. It boasts an envious location with excellent local amenities, including a well equipped shopping centre, leisure centre, good schools, and excellent transport routes, all on your doorstep.
For further information about the development please contact the site open Thursday to Monday 10am to 5pm on 0191 268 0735 or contact the sales department team at head office on
